This year’s
Drama performance, set for April 8th and 9th,
will be a Tim Kelly play called, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark.
The production is a spoof of murder mysteries and features a
surprising twist at the end.
There are
more Seniors in this year’s performance than in any of the last four
years. Zack Terbeek (Zip Whittle) and Meg Betit (Lilac
Cooper) are cousins who are summoned to their deceased cousin
Sebestian Sly’s mansion to hear a will reading. The house staff
includes Pat Kiely as the Butler Skull and Elicia Proietti
as the housekeeper Mrs. Bones. Margaret Hoops (Sylvia Frye)
is a newspaper critique who has panned all of Sebastian Sly’s plays.
Jon Bree makes his Drama debut as Ralph, an orderly at a
local insane asylum.
The
plot follows the mystery of Sebastian’s death, the characters’
desire for revenge on Sylvia Frye for ruining their acting careers,
and Zip and Lilac’s inheritance dependent upon their not showing
signs of insanity for twenty-four hours while crazy things happen
around them, including the mystery of the Creeper.
Kasey
Mackenzie Manley performs admirably as renowned screamer Velma
Cringe, Austin Savage plays local lawman Deputy Graves and
Jaimee Morrissey adds spoken lines to her repertoire as mousy
secretary Miranda Winkler.
Newcomers to drama include Phil Nadeau (The Creeper),
Marijane Ross (Gloria Parr), and Lacey Kitchin (Molly
Devine).
Mr. Burnett and his classes are working on set again this year.
Samantha Williams has been assisting and will be Stage Manager the
night of the performance. Directing again this year is Mr. Thelen.
Anyone wishing to help with costuming or set, please contact Mr.
Thelen or a student in Drama.
We hope to see you all in the auditorium in April.
