Crown Point National Honor Society Requirements for Induction


ACADEMIC: An over-all average of 85% must be maintained. All classes taken that are Credited toward graduation are averaged. No student is eligible before the end of the third Quarter of the sophomore year. Averages are done in accordance with the way honor roll is averaged; there is no rounding up.

. CLASS REQUIREMENTS: All students are now in regent’s courses. To be eligible, a Sophomore must have taken and successfully passed (course and any regents available For that course) the following courses as a freshman: English, history, French, science and math. These courses are all required for graduation. A junior candidate must have fulfilled

The sophomore requirements and have taken and passed two of the following three: French, math or science, along with English and history in their sophomore year. A senior Candidate must have fulfilled the above requirements. In addition, the English regents and two of three of math, science, or French, along with history, must have been successfully completed in their junior year. Any class taken early will count in the year it was taken, not the year it is required.

CHARACTER: Only students with good character are inducted. A survey is done to determine the observed character of a candidate.

LEADERSHIP: Candidates are asked to submit a written listl1etter to help determine any positions of leadership. A survey is also done to help determine any instances of observed leadership qualities.

SERVICE: Candidates are asked to submit a list of services the student has performed, in school or out, that benefit someone or something without recompense. Being paid to do a job is not a service. A survey is also done to record any observed services performed by the candidate.

A five member Honor Society Council determines final decision of eligibility Composed of four teachers and the principal. The Honor Society advisor cannot be a Voting member of this council.

To stay eligible for National Honor Society membership, a member must maintain the Same high criteria, which got him/her, elected in the first place. Failure to obtain this degree of Excellence will result in revoked membership. Any student whose membership is revoked For any reason is never again eligible for membership.
